Clothing Sizes are NOT all the Same

Ladies, we have become too fixated about the little numbers on our clothing tags! Let me give you an example.

On a recent shopping trip, I stopped by my favorite department store and saw this absolutely gorgeous dress that I had to have. Much to my surprise, I went through three sizes before I found one that fit me - and it was a size I don’t ever wear.

I felt fat and miserable, but then I did some research. Believe it or not - all sizes are NOT THE SAME!

Different brands and designers have various structures when it comes to sizing their clothing. What does that mean for us?

Well, it means that I can wear a size seven in one brand… and a size 10 in another! That doesn’t mean I’ve gained or lost weight, it just means that those particular brands have different ways to determine sizes for their clothing.

I know that this might be a revelation to some of you, but rest assured there’s nothing wrong with your body type. Oftentimes, designers use what’s called “vanity sizing” to make a woman think she’s smaller than she actually is.

While this might make you feel good about yourself, those numbers on the little tags are NOT an accurate indication of your size. The only way to figure out your measurements is to actually measure yourself! That’s right - measure your hips, waist and bosom and you’ll come up with your perfect measurements.

Honestly, ladies it’s time to stop obsessing over numbers. The true indication of a fashionista is not what size she wears, but how she makes clothing work for her. Well-fitting fashion that makes you look great and feel good about yourself is what’s important.

So what did I do when I got home from my little shopping expedition? I cut out all the tags out of my clothing. It’s no body’s business what size I wear, and I’m tired of obsessing over a meaningless number.

Come on, ladies - buy clothing that looks great on you, and you’ll feel spectacular, regardless of what size you are!
