Summer Is Here, Don’t Forget The Sunscreen!

With the ever warming of those rays, you don’t have to be told twice that it is summertime. Many of us have heard the warnings about the dangers of exposure to the sun’s rays, but we think to ourselves “I’m not really in the sun all that much.” Well it doesn’t take much to cause damage to your skin. Some people are even extra sensitive due to family history or medications that they take. It truly pays to be extra cautious when it comes to that wonderful, bright sunny sun!
A great tip is to get a facial sunscreen that you love and use it everyday. Put it on underneath your makeup for protection from the rays. Both Neutrogena and Clinique make very popular facial sunscreen for women. They are light and have minimal “sunscreeny” odor to them.
When selecting your sunscreen you want protection from both UVA and UVB rays. Be sure to read the label to confirm it offers protection from both. Many will also want to choose a waterproof sunscreen, ideal for those that participate in sports or are planning to go to the beach. You may work up a sweat in your morning yoga class and a waterproof sunscreen may stand up a bit better to your workout.
Putting on sunscreen is an excellent habit to get into. It only takes moments and it offers such benefits. It is also a way to be a great example to your children. If you are encouraging them to wear sunscreen before doing activities, they will see this as something that is necessary when they realize that you do this all the time too. If you balk at putting on sunscreen or say “I don’t have the time,” then they will do that also.
So start a sunscreen habit and create a great face for the future!
