The Pros and Cons of Designer Fashion

It’s hard shelling out the big bucks for designer fashion. Trust me ladies, I’ve been there – every time I buy a $400 pair of shoes, I inwardly cringe and wonder if the money could have been better spent elsewhere.
Thankfully, I’ve come up with several reasons why you should shell out the cash for designer duds… and when it’s better to just let it go.
Let’s face it – when you drop $1,000 on a designer bag like this little black number from Gucci, your wallet is bound to feel the sting.
But think about it this way. When you spend that much money on a designer piece, you’re not only paying for the name – you’re also paying for superior craftsmanship and higher quality materials.
Not only will this bag last longer, if you purchase a versatile piece (i.e., one you can wear with everything,) you are getting your money’s worth, as well. A designer bag will last through several seasons versus a cheap imitation.
On the other hand, you also need to think about the wear-ability of an item. These pumps from Brian Atwood are gorgeous, but how often are you really going to wear bubblegum pink?
Regardless of how fashionable or trendy an item is, just because it’s a designer piece does not mean you should buy it. If you’re only going to wear it once and throw it in the back of your closet, it’s wise to pass on the item.
When deciding whether to shell out the big bucks for the hottest designer trends, consider how often you’ll wear it and the versatility of the item. Whether it’s a dress, bags, or pair of shoes, figure out what it’s worth to you.
If you’ll wear it time and again and it goes with nearly everything in your wardrobe, I say go ahead and splurge!
If, on the other hand, it’s a “trendy” piece that you’re never going to wear again, pass on it. Designer fashion is wonderful, but only if your investment pays off over the long haul.
